[Video] 50 Cent Threatens Rick Ross

“Hey what’s up? Alright, y’all caught me. I was practicing for my new rock-n-roll album.”

50 Cent takes a break from recording his "rock album" to discuss his new beef with Rick Ross. 50 states that he is gonna fuck Officer Ricky's life up for fun, and says that he has already purchased the court transcripts from Ricky's past life. He also takes a shot at DJ Khaled calling him a "faggot." Being that 50 is one of the most entertaining characters in hip-hop, when situations like this arrive he is more then willing to get it on and take it to wax. He has taken part of three of the most entertaining rap beefs in history in recent years, and most certainely bows down to nobody. I look forward to hearing more disses from 50, since I could careless for Ross and his bullshit music.

[Audio] Fat Joe ft. Akon - One

Here goes the first single off Fat Joe's untitled new album, featuring none other than Akon. Fat Joe is one of the most diverse artists in the game, rangeing from joints like "That White" produced by DJ Premier to "Make It Rain" featuring Lil Wayne. He definitely has the ability to make a hit over any type of beat, but I'd personally like to see his ol' school D.I.T.C. swagger back.

Fat Joe ft. Akon - One

[Audio] Raekwon - Yes Sir (ft. Ghostface Killah & Crooked I)

On February 19th, Stenge-O-Matic of Anotha Level will be releasing a project called “The Live & Direct Show” which features none-other-than Crooked I. However, this project is more than a regular underground feature as Crooked I appears along side the Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon and Ghostface Killah. Many Hip Hop fans would consider this to be a “dream team” collaboration. Fans are able to preview the track on the project’s MySpace page and can make their purchase through Amazon when it becomes available. Those who are not familiar with Stenge-O-Matic’s group Anotha Level may be interested to know that their first album “On Anotha Level” was executively produced by Ice Cube and sold over 250,000 records in 1994. Stenge’s upcoming “Live & Direct Show” also features T.I., Glasses Malone, Akon and many more. Make sure to cop this project and support this heat!

[Audio] J.R Writer ft. Fred Money & Charlie Clips - Writer, Money & Drugs

Here is a new joint off J.R Writer's forthcoming album, Cinecrack, to be released March 31st through Babygrande Records. He gathers his brother Fred Money some dude Charlie Clips and a dope beat from The TrakDealaz. J.R isn't putting out records like he was back when the Dip's were poppin', but when he drops a joint he always comes correct. Added two bonus joints supposedly off Writers Block Vol. 6, but who knows if that is even dropping.

[Video] DukeDaGod's New Producer, AraabMuzik

Here is some footage of Dipset & DukeDaGod's new producer, AraabMuzik goin' buck wild on the MPC at a local bar. The bar most definitely looks dead but this dude has some crazy talent with the MPC, I look forward to hearing what he can cook up for the Dips.

[Audio] Termanology - Tight Pants Are For Girls

Here is a new track from Term' over some classic DJ Premier production. As you can see from the title, Term' is not feelin' all these dudes walking around wearing pants that look like they belong on a female. I definitely can agree with him on that one; what ever happened to the baggy pants fad? Anyway, enjoy some new Term', the colloboration album with Statik Selektah is comin' real soon.

[Audio] 50 Cent - Officer Ricky (Go Head,Try Me) (Rick Ross Diss)

Recently southern artist Rick Ross took shots at 50 Cent on the song "Mafia Music." He stated “I love to pay ya bills, can’t wait to pay ya rent/Curtis Jackson, baby mama ain’t looking for a cent/Burn the house down, you gotta buy another/Don’t forget the gas can, jealous stupid motherfucker.” Now either Rick Ross has some top notch ghostwriters lined up or he's just plain stupid. 50 basically lives for beef, and has certainly been in his fair share of battles. With both artists releasing albums in the near future, look for a new battle to begin in hip-hop. Personally I don't think Rick Ross stands a chance in this battle, he should just let this diss track from 50 be the last and move on with his life, we'll just have to wait and see what Officer Ricky does. 50 also takes shots at Lil Wayne & DJ Khaled in this song, he's obviously trying to get as much promotion for his album as he can. Major props to MissInfo for the linkage.

[Audio] DJ Suss. One - Who Shot Ya 2K9 (ft. Red Cafe, Uncle Murda & Maino)

DJ Suss. One from Power 105.1 Radio Station in NYC gathered up three of New York's hardest rappers for a 2009 version of Biggie & Diddy's classic joint "Who Shot Ya." This has got to be one of the most used instrumentals in hip-hop history, yet the beat never seems to get old. All three rappers go in on this one, NY Stand Up!

[Video] Lil Wayne - Interview With Katie Couric (Preview)

Katie Couric of CBS recently met with Lil' Wayne in an interview that will air before Tuesday nights Grammy Awards Show. This is just a little preview of the interview, and you can already tell it will be entertaining.

[Audio] Q-Tip - Renaissance Rap (Remix) (ft. Busta Rhymes, Raekwon & Lil Wayne)

Here is the remix to Q-Tip's "Renaissance Rap," which is one of my favorite cuts off his latest album, The Renaissance. He gathers up Busta Rhymes, Raekwon & oddly enough Lil' Wayne for a dope remix. You already know when Q & Busta get together it's gonna be ill, but throw in Raekwon & Lil Wayne and you got yourself a classic lineup. Props to the NMC for this one.

[Audio] Papoose - Amnesia

Here's another track left off Pap's new mixtape, 21 Gun Salute. Pap' has been putting in work so far in the new year, hopefully we'll see that debut album at some point.

[Audio] Saigon on Streetsweeper Radio

Here is some audio of Saigon on DJ Kay Slay's Streetsweeper Radio discussing his long delayed album, the indie/major label situation & his beef with Joe Budden. Sai' & Joe will continue to take shots at each other until they finish the battle or take it to the boxing ring. If you didn't see this recent interview Joe did with HipHopGame, he announces the beef is dead, but still manages to take a couple jabs at Sai'.

[Audio] Raekwon & Ghostface Killah - Criminology 2 ('09)

Here goes a sequel to Rae & Ghost's classic joint, "Criminology," off Raekwon's debut album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. In this version, The RZA switched up the beat a lil bit, but maintained the overall sound of the first one. This song is a strong sign that Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 will actually drop this year, with a rumored release date of April 7th. I'm a huge fan of the Wu-Tang and I am definitely hoping this album finally see's the light of day. Huge props to Splash for premiering this one & NahRight for supplying the dirty version.

[News] Reks Preps Release of More Grey Hairs

First up for Reks in ’09 is his album-before-the-album (and addendum to his last album), More Grey Hairs, due in stores by the spring.

“This [is] a collection of material that we felt should have made ‘Grey Hairs,’ but we just could not extend ‘Grey Hairs’ any further,” Reks explained to DX of his forthcoming release. “We had a bunch of records that we had already prepared that we felt like were good enough but were just not fitting into the whole collective as much as the other records were. And so these records were put aside so we could release ‘em shortly after ‘Grey Hairs’ dropped… [But] “System” [is] a new record. We did a few new records for [‘More Grey Hairs’].”

A host of up-and-coming producers helm the bulk of the trackwork on More, including Immortal Technique’s deejay, G.I. Joe, who crafted the album’s first official offering, the aforementioned “System.” The budding beatmaker having been brought to Reks attention following his appearance on the scratchfest, “No Mistakes Allowed,” from Statik Selektah’s first full-length, 2007’s Spell My Name Right. Also putting in work on More is Florida-based trackmaster Timeless Beats, who contributed the soulful lament on the realities of our recession era “Dear Winter” and Reks’ former classmates at the University of Massachusetts, the Soul Searchers, who were absent from the creation of Grey Hairs but instrumental in the construction of Reks’ 2001 Landspeed Records debut, Along Came The Chosen, as well as his self-distributed Rekless street album in ’03 (which Reks revealed to DX he plans to re-release sometime later this year).

But it’s not all lesser-known producers supplying the sonic foundation for Reks’ rugged rhymes on his latest offering. More does boast a couple big names behind the boards, including DJ Premier, who laced Reks with one of his most impressive productions of ’08 for “Say Goodnight” from Grey Hairs, and once again provides the match to light the fire of Reks’ furious flow on “Cloud 9.” And of course the Executive Producer of Grey Hairs, Statik Selektah, puts in plenty of work on More Grey Hairs.

And while light on guest appearances this go-round, Statik’s other celebrated Showoff spitter Termanology is added alongside Skyzoo for a remix of the Soul Theory produced slow burner from Grey Hairs, “Money On The Ave.”

As for the content of More Grey Hairs, much like its predecessor Reks easily upstages his cash-and-ass contemporaries by skillfully weaving in to his rhymes a vast array of topics, ranging from discussions of politics to painfully personal revelations.

“I got this record, ‘Good Night, And Good Luck,’ where it’s more [of] a [storytelling track],” Reks revealed of one of his new conceptual gems. “I’m kinda like dealing with a relationship gone bad, and how it affects the children… I deal with relationships [on ‘More Grey Hairs’], [and I] still [address] the emcee topic, [which] is gonna be rampant because I’m just so fed-up with some of this b.s. that we’re receiving from artists nowadays… If they’re gonna beat us in the head with the bullshit, then I’m gonna beat them in the head telling them how weak their bullshit is.”

Following the release of More Grey Hairs, the outspoken orator is dropping a politically-minded mixtape with the aid of 1914, another Sunshine State production source in Reks’ rolodex, and the beatmakers behind “Long While” from Grey Hairs.

Additional mixtape collabos with Soul Theory and Statik are on Reks’ ’09 itinerary to surround the release of his official new studio album. Due sometime this summer, the project is currently untitled, but Reks ensures the eventual title he selects for his next offering of all-original material will not have the word “grey” anywhere in it.

“There will be no [titles and topics] that deal with the aging process any longer,” he said of his future songs and albums. “I think I found my fountain of youth.”

[News] Koch Records Changes Name to E1 Music

Effective today (January 27), independent powerhouse Koch Records will now be known as E1 Music.

The initiative comes directly from parent company E1 Entertainment, in a concerted effort to merge their portfolio of over 100 global subsidiaries under one umbrella.

The company's urban division will remain in New York City, while the main office is set to relocate to Long Island, NY by the end of February.

The name change comes as the company plans a loaded 2009 with anticipated 1st quarter releases from D-Block, Alchemist, Juelz Santana's Skull Gang, Havoc of Mobb Deep, and Slim Thug.

"We are looking at the best year in our history," an excited Alan Grunblatt, General Manger of E1 Music, told AllHipHop.com. "We are just changing our name to E1 and will continue to change the game."

With a library of over 15,000 songs and 3,700 feature films, E1 Music President Bob Frank is confident the label will maintain its near-decade of dominance in the independent Hip-Hop scene.

"E1 Music will pick up where Koch Records left off as the #1 Independent 8 years running," Frank explained to AllHipHop.com. "These are very challenging but exciting times for the recorded music business. We have positioned the company perfectly so that we can continue to win!"

The new arrangement does not affect the status of artist and ByrdGang leader Jim Jones, who will retain his A&R position for the label.

[Audio] Havoc - Watch Me

Here goes the first single off Havoc's upcoming solo album, Hidden Files, to be released Feb 24. on E1 Music formerly known as Koch Records. I posted the track list/cover recently, there may however be some slight changes before the album is released. Anyway this joint is pretty hot, but certainly doesn't resemble anything off his first solo album. With a radio friendly beat and the help of newcomer Ricky Blaze on an auto-tuned chorus, it appears that Hav' is seeking some mainstream success with this album. Wack rappers & auto-tune or Havoc & some auto-tune? You already know where I stand on that one. Also on Feb. 24th, Mobb Deep will be releasing The Infamous Instrumentals, which will include the beats to the groups classics, including "Shook Ones Pt. 2", "Quiet Storm," and "Survival of the Fittest." [News] HipHopDX Interview With Wale

Likely to be about as busy as his new neighbor at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in ’09, D.C. native Wale is utilizing the start of this new era in American political life to also jump start what is sure to become an equally life-altering time for DX's ’08 “Rookie of the Year”.

“Oh that was big,” he gushed when congratulated on the award. “’Cause I come to the site a lot, and I was starting to worry that DX might fall into the [trap of] like looking at some of the negative responses on some of my records and stuff [and not show love].”

Love was definitely shown to one of Hip-Hop's most talented new artists throughout DX’s recent year-end awards [click to read], as in addition to his taking home the title “Rookie of the Year,” Wale also received a runner-up nod in the “Mixtape of the Year” category for last summer’s The Mixtape About Nothing.

His “Seinfeld”-inspired mix may have proven to be the 24-year-old’s most noted release to date, but the artist who can effortlessly intertwine social commentary and street swagger (see: his hometown dissection disguised as a fly footwear anthem, “Nike Boots” is actually getting set to drop his fifth street album, dating back to his 2006 mixtape debut, Paint A Picture.

His newest mix, Back To The Feature, which Wale estimated will be hitting the streets around mid-March, is already halfway completed. The rising rookie, who has already collaborated with Hip Hop heavyweights the likes of Lil Wayne and The Roots, is just waiting on a few more features for Feature to be recorded before putting the finishing touches on the project.

Confirmed cameos on the mix include frequent collaborator Bun B, as well as fellow artists-on-the-rise Curren$y, Drake, and Skyzoo.

And while the tape is a joint effort between Wale and producer 9th Wonder, the young gun told DX that “There might be a couple records that ain’t 9th, maybe Black Milk, and a couple local producers as well. And I got a couple local emcees on there too, like Southeast Slim’s gonna be on it. X.O.’s gonna be on it, and Tre from UCB’s gonna be on it as well.”

The Allido/Interscope Records artist’s long-awaited major label debut is set to follow Back To The Feature and hit store shelves sometime in the Spring.

“We pressing up the [first] single right now,” Wale revealed. “It’s gonna be ‘Chillin,’ the real version.”

And unfinished version of the Cool & Dre produced track leaked to the ‘Net in December, and it appears that the Miami-based beatmakers played a major role in the creation of Wale’s currently untitled freshman long-player.

“We got a lot of Cool & Dre [production] on the album,” he revealed. “I don’t really have any rappers [on the album] except for Bun. And there’s one more person that might be on that record with me and Bun… Marsha Ambrosius is on [the album]. She’s amazing. [Rock band] TV On The Radio, who [haven’t] done anything with an emcee yet [are on the album]. We trying to push the envelope on creativity in music.”

In addition to Cool & Dre, trackwork for the album is being handled by D.C. production duo Best Kept Secret (who helmed the lion share of The Mixtape About Nothing), as well as the head of Allido, Mark Ronson.

“Mark’s been fine tuning a lot of the records [on the album],” said Wale. “He [took] a lot of records from A to A-plus.”

An additional track on Wale’s forthcoming album was laced by producer/deejay Green Lantern. According to Green, he recently produced two songs for Wale, one of which he told DX is locked-in for Wale’s first full-length.

[News] Lil Wayne's Rock LP, Rebirth, Due Out April 7

Can he do another milli the first week? We'll know in a couple of months!

Lil Wayne announced the official release date and title of his next album: Rebirth is due April 7 — and his publicist has confirmed to MTV News that it will be a rock album. Of course, Wayne has been rocking with a guitar for some time now.

The first single is called "Prom Queen" and will debut on the Internet right after a live stream of his concert in San Diego on January 27. The show will be available for stream on MySpace.com.

Wayne — who will perform at the Grammy Awards on February 8 — hinted at a change in direction for his next LP in October during the BET Hip-Hop Awards.

"I don't know if we're gonna release Tha Carter IV now," he told MTV News on his tour bus. "I think we're gonna release Tha Carter III — a new Carter III with none of the same songs, though. None of them. Not one! We don't wanna call the [next album] we got coming out Tha Carter IV. That was the dilemma we were in. We want Carter IV to be what everybody wants it to be.

"This is something brand new, so we don't want it to be some experimental thing, 'cause some people are not gonna like this. I don't want them to not like Tha Carter IV. But I do have an album coming soon, very soon, and it's gonna be called ... Tha Carter III: The Rebirth. The birth of a new beginning."

Those plans have been changed a bit. Wayne's rep told MTV News that the April 7 release has absolutely nothing to do with Tha Carter III or any of his previous hip-hop efforts.

[Audio] Cappadonna - Life's A Gamble (ft. Raekwon & Ratchet)

It appears that Cappadonna's new album, Slang Prostitution, has leaked to the masses. Unfortunatily out of respect for real hip-hop I wont be posting the full album. I will however post my favorite joints off the album, the first joint "Life's A Gamble" features Raekwon & Ratchet. The second is titled, "Fire" and features fellow Wu member Masta Killa. The album's official release date is Jan. 27th, search the forums if you can't wait till then.

[Video] B.A.M. ft. Lil Fame - My City

Here goes the video for Brooklyn MC, B.A.M.'s new single, "My City," featuring M.O.P. member Lil Fame. This joint will be featured on his upcoming album, The New Golden Era, which is a collabo album with producer Ric Rude. The album features guest appearances from hip-hop legends such as, Lil Fame, Keith Murray, Royce Da 5'9, Prodigy & more. It is schedule to drop sometime during 2009. For those of you unfamiliar with B.A.M., he is certainly not a newcomer into the game, his first appearance on wax came on The Gravediggaz album, 6 Feet Deep, back in 1993. Check out his myspace for more info.

[Video] The "Double Alley-Oop" Dunk

I spotted this video over at WithLeather and thought it was pretty dope. Ike Nwamu (dunk) & Deuce Bello (tip) from Weschester Country Day School hook up for a "Double Alley-Oop" dunk & facial.

[News] Jay-Z Taking His Time With Blueprint 3

Jay-Z's been busy lately, recording verses for DJ Khaled, the "Notorious" soundtrack and Young Jeezy's "My President" remix. But that doesn't mean the Brooklyn wordsmith is ready to release The Blueprint 3 just yet.

Typically, when Jay has a project in the works, it only takes him a few weeks to wrap it up. This time, though, there's been no rush.

"For me, the process of making an album is difficult with so many things going on," Jay told MTV News backstage at his "Eve of Change" show. "And me, I wanna make it beyond and above. I'm gonna take my time with it. I don't have any quotas, and that's a good thing. It may be too freeing. It's a good thing and a bad thing. You know, I think I need some restrictions. 'Cause if I had restrictions, I would have done it in three weeks. I would have made what I believe to be a great piece of art."

According to Kanye West, the album's rumored sole producer, the music recorded so far for BP3 is "phenomenal." West spoke with MTV Base in November and reiterated Jay's claim that the album could have been released. But after the positive feedback for "Jockin' Jay-Z" and T.I.'s "Swagger Like Us," Hov decided to keep cooking up tracks.

"We went in, and we [did] the whole album," West explained. "He wanted to do a few more joints, so he kinda pushed it back. Now we're gonna go in and just work on some more records. So I got some more stuff to kill it with! I think [Jay pushed the album back because] 'Swagger' just did so incredible. We wanted to go up [and make sure] everything was on that level."

In addition to "Jockin' Jay-Z" and "Swagger Like Us," the Jigga Man said his "Notorious" track, "Brooklyn Go Hard," is also slated for the album.

"I actually recorded a lot of records already," Jay said. "You know, all those records that leaked [online] were on The Blueprint 3."

The Blueprint 3 is believed to be Jay-Z's last contractual album due to Def Jam, his current recording home. The rapper, who served a three-year term as the label's president, signed a new $150 million contract with Live Nation over 10 years. It remains unclear, though, which company will distribute albums for Jay-Z under the Live Nation deal.

[Video] Slaughterhouse Acapella Performance at S.O.B.'s

Here is some footage of Joe Budden, Royce Da 5'9, Joell Ortiz & Crooked I's first performance as Slaughterhouse at S.O.B.'s in NYC last night. They performed their second recorded track together "Onslaught" in classic acapella fashion. I know a lot of fans were disappointed last night, at least I was, when Amalgam Digital's live webcast failed to work the entire night. Since Joey has always been a fair man, I'm sure he'll attempt to make it up to all his "internet soliders." Shouts to MissInfo for the footage, also check out these dope pics from Mel D. Cole of Village Slum.

Joe thanks his "internet soliders" and everyone else for coming out to his show last night.

[Audio] New York Hip-Hop Drop

With the South & West coast taking over our local radio stations, I felt it was necessary to give my blog viewers a taste of some real NY hip-hop. I feel as if one's rhyming ability is overshadowed by their beat selection. If you manage to come across a catchy beat with radio appeal, you have a strong chance of becoming a known artist. Being that I'm from New York I felt it was time to spotlight some of NY's legendary artists still puttin' it down today. Included in this post are new tracks from Ali Vegas, Blaq Poet, Cappadonna, DJ Premier, Freddie Foxx (Bumpy Knuckles), Keith Murray, Nas, The RZA, Ghostface Killah, & Kool G Rap. Just to be sure every borough was represented, I threw in a bonus Jay-Z joint.

For some reason I neglected to post the first two installments, but I'll keep y'all updated the rest of the way. In this edition Jadakiss discusses his forthcoming album, The Last Kiss, his upcoming mixtape, Kiss My Ass, his new video for "Letter To B.I.G." and more. The album is still scheduled for a March '09 release, let's hope it remains that way.

[Video] Black Moon & Smif-N-Wessun - Tribute to Classics (Trailer)

I had this post made a week ago, I don't know why it was never published. Anyway, this is the trailer to the official documentary for Black Moon & Smif-N-Wessun's recent Tribute To Classics show at NYC's The Knitting Factory. They were backed by a live band and performed songs off their seminal albums Enta Da Stage and Dah Shinin’. If you've never heard these albums, be sure to get yourself a copy, real hip-hop at its finest.

[Video] Jay-Z & Young Jeezy - My President Is Black (Remix) [Offical Video]

I posted some footage of this epic performance the other day, but the quality was not up to par with this one. Shouts to Carrie L. from ChunnelTV for sending this through.

[Audio] Carlito Rossi ft. D12, Freeway, Roccett & Cashis - Hater In The Club (Remix)

The joint features D12, Roccett, Freeway & Cashis and is off his forthcoming independent album, Carlito's Way - The LP. The album contains features from Paul Wall, D12, Ca$his, Freeway, Roccett, Alfamega and many more. It is set to be released sometime during the first half of the new year. [News] Saigon Denies Phone Call w/ Joe Budden

As reported yesterday by various blogs/websites, producer & close friend to Saigon, Just Blaze sent out a message through twitter that stated Saigon & Joe Budden had spoken on the phone. This message had the internet buzzin' last night and had everyone believing that the battle between the two had been squashed. But that does not appear to be the case as XXLmag caught up with Saigon today to get the info first hand. Here is what Saigon had to say...

When asked to confirm whether or not he got on the phone with Budden, Sai denied everything that Just Blaze wrote on his twitter account last night. “Nah that’s what Just Blaze wants to happen in his heart,” he said. “I don’t know where he got that information from but that’s totally bullshit.“

In fact Sai thinks Blaze said that to cool things down. “I don’t know where that came from,” he explained. “For a while you know Just been trying to squash that shit cause he understands what it can turn in to. He just doesn’t wanna see it go past –you know just being around me and a lot of my people – and he doesn’t wanna see it go anywhere other than wax. And he knows that’s very, very, very likely gonna happen.”

Budden will be performing tonight at S.O.B.’s as a part of the newly formed supergroup Slaughterhouse. While Sai is cool with the rest of the crew, which consists of Joell Ortiz, Royce da 5’9” and Crooked I, he says he will not be going to the show. “There’s really no need to be there, “ he said. “I would love to see the show as a hip-hop fan – they all talented people - I wanna see what they can come up with, but with that other shit that’s not gonna happen.”

Sai announced on his last diss track “Pushin Buddens,” which was released earlier this week, that he’s done with adding fuel to the fire, but admitted to XXL that he will keep on putting out records if he has to. “To tell you the truth I don’t want to but you know know that shit is getting fun, ’cause I don’t really battle but it’s fun now – now i’ll come back 10 times stronger than I came,” he said about putting out another track. “So if his shit ain’t 10 times stronger that that ‘Pain in his Life‘ – which I know he can’t make a better record than that – if he can make a better record that than shit, he’s good, then I gotta step my shit up and do it again.”

So it looks like the battle will continue between the two MC's until one of them decides to call it quits. XXLmag also reported that Saigon's forthcoming mixtape, Warning Shots Pt. 2, is slated for an April release, with production from Just Blaze, Scram Jones, Buckwild & himself. I was thinking it would drop sooner then that but apparently not.
