[News] Drug Dealing in Grand Theft Auto

Earlier this week, news broke that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars the forthcoming DS rendition of Rockstar's immensely popular crime series -- would feature a drug-selling mini-game, where players could earn money peddling six different kinds of narcotics around town.

Unsurprisingly, this isn't going over very well with anti-drug organizations. GamePolitics reports that in a story by the British tabloid The Sun, a member of the charity Drugsline condemns Rockstar's use of illegal narcotics.

"Anything using drug-dealing as entertainment is sending out the wrong message," said Darren Gold, on behalf of the Drugsline organization. "Glamorization doesn't help our work trying to educate kids of the dangers of substance misuse."

In Chinatown Wars, players will sell weed, cocaine, ecstasy, heroin, acid, and downers. Speaking to Edge magazine (via Pocket Gamer), Rockstar vice president Dan Houser explained why they included this feature in the game. "We wanted to have a drug-dealing mini-game in lots of the GTA games," Houser said. "We played with it a little in Vice City Stories, because it worked really well juxtaposed with the main story. It works well with what GTA is, with driving around the map, and it gives you another thing to think about -- another layer or piece of the puzzle to keep you motivated... It does intersect with the main story and things you learn from it work with the story, but it mostly runs on its own."

Whether or not the game will actually glamorize drug-dealing, as Gold suggests, remains to be seen -- but based on past GTA games, Rockstar doesn't always go out of their way to emphasize stark consequences for in-game law-breaking. Still, the developer -- which is no stranger to controversy -- probably expected this feature to be met with backlash from anti-drug organizations. In fact, they were probably hoping for it. After all, controversy certainly helps get your game in the news, doesn't it?

Sky is back with the seventh installment to his Archive series. This joint is from 2004 and is produced by Hi-Tek. The Salvation coming real soon.

"For #7 in the Skyzoo Archives series, i’m starting the week off with “The Hustler’s Theme-2004″. This is a joint I did in ‘04 over a Hi Tek beat for my mixtape Ghetto Celebrity. I wanted to put this one out there knowing that a lot of you may not have heard it back when I first dropped it. It’s me describing what goes on outside. When I dropped this back in the day, a lotta the older dudes who were apart of what this song talks about used to ride around with this one blasting in the trunk and telling me good looks for speaking up for them. Now ya’ll can do the same.

Don’t forget, the mixtape The Power Of Words and the album The Salvation, both coming real soon. For now, here’s “The Hustler’s Theme-2004″, produced by Hi-Tek. Holla"

Jay-Z has officially announced his new partnership with StarGate, the multi-platinum Norwegian production duo responsible for hit singles by Ne-Yo, Rihanna, and Beyonce, Cher, Lionel Richie and others.
The global partnership establishes the StarRoc label, which has been rumored about for weeks, as well as a new publishing company, StarRoc Music Publishing.

With the help of Roc Nation and Artist Nation, the company will manage artists’ diverse rights, expand their fan bases, and provide a direct connection through the marketing and global distribution methods.

[Video] Sugar Shane Mosley KO

I was watching this fight last night, and it seemed that Mosley was having a tough time dealing with Mayorga's unorthodox style of fighting. Mosley did however control the the fight and was winning on the scorecards, but decided to go for the KO for the fans.
That left hook at the end is deadly.

[Audio] 50 for President

Thisis50 dropped this exclusive track from 50 Cent this morning. 50 is currently hard at work in the studio with Eminem & Dr. Dre for his upcoming album, Before I Self Destruct. The album is scheduled to be released December 9th, so be on the lookout for new 50 Cent music to start hitting the internet. Oh and don't forget to vote for 50.

Lloyd Banks is finally set to release his long over due new mixtape, Return Of The PLK. ThisIs50 will be posting the mixtape at 6pm, and I'll have it up on this site around then as well. [Audio] Grafh - Like Ooh (Remix)

Been waiting on this remix for a minute now, but its finally here. Jim Jones, Jadakiss & Bun-B hop on the remix to this already hot track. Be on the lookout for Grafh's new album The Evolution, in the mean time check out his new website.

[Audio] Skyzoo - History

You already know what it is, Skyzoo is back again with the sixth installment to his Archive series. This track is from 2005 and features production from the late-great J. Dilla.

"First off, to everyone who’s been supporting and showing love to this archives series (from the blog runners who post them up to the blog readers who click and listen), I appreciate it 100%. The idea for this series came from my man Napoleon and it’s working out really well. I’m currently hard at work on The Salvation album as well as The Power Of Words mixtape, so rest assured that tons of new music is coming sooner than you think. This series is a good way to go back and peep some of the older stuff that may have gotten lost or didn’t reach as many ears as it could have. With that said, I bring you Skyzoo Archives #6: “History-2005″ produced by J Dilla. Anyone who knows my story knows that i’m huge J Dilla fan and that I was even lucky enough to build with him repeatedly before he passed away. I am also real close with his family, both related and extended (ie: Illa J, Guilty Simpson, House Shoes, Black Milk, etc). When I did this track in ‘05, it was for my mixtape The City’s Favorite and was one of the stand out tracks. It’s me doing what I do back in ‘05. Some of you may know this beat from Dilla’s leaked beat tapes and forums. It’s one of my fave’s from his later years. RIP J Dilla, the greatest producer of all time. I present to you “History-2005″, produced by J Dilla. holla"

[News] Swagger Like Us Pt. 2

I wish I could report this as official news, but it's only a rumor for now. It's being reported that Jay-Z will have a sequel to the already historic "Swagger Like Us" track on his upcoming album The Blueprint 3. The lineup is rumored to feature Young Jeezy, 50 Cent, Andre 3000 & Nas. Personally I say you drop Andre 3000 and add Ludacris. Other possible candidates Lupe Fiasco, Fabolous & Cassidy. Anybody got any others?

[News] Kanye West Album Pushed Up

Well this certainly doesn't happen very often, Kanye West has announced on his blog that he is going to release his new album, 808's & Heartbreak, in November.

[Audio] Skyzoo - Rise and Shine & Picture Perfect

Skyzoo is back with the fifth installment to his Archive series. This time he drops two tracks on us, both produced by Khyrsis from the Justice League.

"So this time, i’m giving yall a 2 for 1 bonus. The 5th installment or Skyzoo Archives is 2 joints on one day; “Rise & Shine-2005″ and “Picture Perfect-2005″, both produced by Khrysis. A few weeks back I mentioned a trip that I took to NC in 2005 when I first met the the Justus League. Khrysis, 9th, Fatin and I all worked on a ton of joints together that no one’s ever heard. The 2 joints attached are from that trip. “Rise & Shine-2005″ is me describing one going after their goals and the idea of drive (or lack thereof). “Picture Perfect-2005″ is more story telling and painting pictures. So here they are, “Rise & Shine-2005″ & “Picture Perfect-2005″, both produced by Khrysis. Check them out while I go write some more of this album. Remember, “The Salvation” is coming 4th/1st qtr. Skyzoo is back with the fourth installment to his Archive series. This track is produced by 9th Wonder and was recorded sometime in 2004.
"For this 4th installment of “Skyzoo Archives”, I present to you “True Romance-2004″, produced by 9th Wonder. As some of you may know, 9th and I have a history as far as making dope story joints together (ie: Cloud 9, etc). He’s like the Toomp to my TI. This one though is a joint I did before I even met him. It was one of those leaked beats of his that were all over the net back when 9th first popped off. This one is a deep/emotional story joint. Filled with characters, plots, locations, sound effects, the works. I can count on one hand the amount of people who’ve heard this, so this one is SUPER rare. “True Romance-2004″, produced by 9th Wonder. P.S: wait ’til ya’ll hear what we did for “The Salvation”. Smh.
